Default DTC codes---how to fix?

Hey guys,

I'm getting a code indicating that the camshaft position sensor is indicating a circuit malfunction. Also, my upstream oxygen sensors are indicating that the engine is alternating continuously between running too rich and running too lean. As far as driveability goes, the truck surges while it is running...causing it to surge and then nearly stall over and over again. Does anyone have any idea how to fix these things and how much it would cost to fix them? Thanks!

The O2 sensors should fluctuate back and forth, that's normal (it should actually fluctuate at least 8 times every 10 seconds or something like that). As for the cam sensor issue, you need to get a scan tool and see what the cam sensor's doing...it may be faulty. You could do a quick visual inspection and make sure that none of the wires are open or shorted...if you find a broken wire or pinched wire to the sensor, you've probably found your problem.

first thing I would do for the cam sensor is check my cam bolts......we replace broken cam bolts ALL THE TIME here, and loose/broken bolts would cause a cam sensor code. best way to check is remove the intake manifold, and the knock plate.....check to make sure the lifters are centered on the cam lobe.....

be sure to verify your cam sensor is good before you proceed with the above suggestion.
