Default diagnostic equipment help.

i have an old laptop. its a toshiba satellite 6100 400mhz w/ 126 mb of ram. not much good for anything. i want to turn it into a diagnostic machine. i have been reading up on these. some software looks at more sensors than others. theres some that are free unless you want to see all activity in the vehicle. then i read that elm based systems are not good because they don't read fast enough? they range anywhere from free to $1000. all i want is to do some data logging so i can send the results to jessebub. i'm having transmission issues when my tune is in. i really don't want to spend to much since i wont need it to much. somebody point me in the right direction please.

You might try posting something in your local region forum to see if another member can hook you up with some HPT/EFI Live data logging. That's going to be your best bet if you don't want to spend a lot of money/time.

You need to find out what software Jesse uses so he can read your log file.. If he uses HP Tuners they are about to start selling just their scanner part.. Id check into that...

If Jesse is doing it, I'd say first buy the 250 efi live scanner. Then he might be using GM SCT software for 06 and up.
