Default Crank sensor failure

How common is it? I've gotten PO342(low voltage) twice now and sometimes its takes 2 or 3 times for it to start..I'll also have to "give it gas" when it doesn't want to start...Is it safe to just replace the sensor or is there something more to it??? It runs fine other wise... Oh this is on the silvy

Not that common, but at least it threw a code at you. It's about a $60 part. You could swap the sensors from your 2 vehicles (if they're the same) to confirm if that is the problem before spending the money on it.
