Default Crank re learn

I was under the impression that once a PCM learned the crank it was done. I pulled mine to get a update, and the stock PCM threw a code ( I havent checked it yet though) Will I have to do another relearn when I put the tuned PCM back in, or will it still recognize it?

If I need another relearn is there anyone around South La that has access to a tech 1 or 2?

I think any time the crank position does not match what is stored in the PCM you have to do a relearn. This means that any time you swap a PCM it has to be done again.

but it is only when you install a core tuned pcm right? if you get your stock pcm tuned then there is nothing to worry about right?

Thats the thing. I had a crank re learn on my tuned PCM done, and when I puit the factory one back in, it threw the code. Im wondering if I will need a re learn again when the tuned PCM goes back in.

If you take out your stock PCM and send it in, then plug it back in again without moving the truck you should be fine.

from what i understand, once your PCm is learned for the crank position it doesnt matter if you take it out ands swap with another one. Once that one is put back in it should not throw any codes or anything. make sure you didnt overtighten the bolts for the PCM as well, i have heard of overtightening can cause some issues. Get the code read first and see where you stand. Good Luck
