computer for diff vehicle question
what is the difference in the tahoe computer and the truck computer? if i took a 01/02 pcm from a truck and flashed a tahoe vin in, could i tune it with hpt? or is the software only going to allow for truck vins.
what i am getting at is i (sisters) have a tahoe that needs a tune.

No you cant. Tahoe/Suburban licenses are seperate from the trucks. Our cable will not connect to a Tahoe to read or flash the pcm. Physically I believe the pcms are the same but what you could do is get a pin diagram for the pcm harnesess for both vehicles and compare. If they are the same, the pcm's will be interchangable. You can also have some one check the service numbers for each pcm to see if they are the same.

I imagine you could completly write over it with the truck tune, using a truck VIN, now if it goes to the dealer and the plug it in you will probably confuse the out of the technician b/c the VIN won't match the truck. Maybe double check to see if the part numbers are the same for the PCM in the trucks and Tahoes, the only differences I can think of would be the VIN, which you can alter with HP Tuners by writing over the existing tune as far as I know.
