Any handheld programmer is gonna cost you $400 or more. You can get a tuned pcm to install in your Tahoe for $160 by calling Wait4Me---> They are a sponsor to the right. If you want a handheld to monitor things and read trouble codes, the Predator made by Diablo Sport is pretty good but the customer service sucks big time. (also costs $400 or more, but you get a handheld that does a few things)

If you take your avatar pic and blow it up and put it in your signature, you will get more responses. LOL

predator, if you want a handlheld. for the reasons above, mainly it lets you adjust more parameters than the competition. I had one, got it used for about $240.

Diablo has very little customer support, but at least you know beforehand.

Custom tunes are much better, pcmforless, waitforme are the cheapest.
Westers, Nelson are better with my preference going to Nelson for mail order tunes. Just from what everyone else is saying.

Personal tune the best if you can find anybody. I am in TX so I can't help you there.

I always recommend a full software suite rather then a handheld...most eventually outgrow a handheld whereas software packages grow with you making it probably thee best investment you'll ever make.

Since you have a stock engine you should first determine if you are going to keep it that way or add mods in the future.

If stock is your goal, find someone who has a GOOD scan/log tool and take a 20 minute run with a couple of WOT runs. Send that scan to a good tunere like nelson or Wait4me and they can give you an excellent tune.

If modding is your goal then get HPTuners or EFIlive and use the scanning for the initial setting and learn to use the tuning software as you mod. There are several good forums to help you as you learn.

One bit of advise, do not let anyone convince you to remove all the Torque Management out of the trans and tune off all engine codes (especially knock sensors). If someone suggests that rout, run do not walk. The trucks are too heavy and the drivetrains too rugged on the trans in a stock truck.

i am more a stereo and looks guy, i was never into speed too much. i am going to keep the stock engine.....i just wanted something to give the truck alittle more *****.

since i put the stereo in it has gotten cosiderably slower. ( the entire trunk is full its gotta be close to 400 - 500lbs )

i just want that feeling like when u are on the high way and u punch it, it takes off. i considered a supercharger but they are way too expensive and i heard that if it is not done properly it can mess up the truck.

i emailed nelson and wait4me tunes.

nelson told me $425 and i should expect 34hp to the rear wheels

wait4me told me $158 and i should expect 25-30 hp ( the $158 is for a relacment pcm, if they do mine it is only like $85 )

what do u guys think ? which would u do, or is there something better.

thanks
