What I was thinking. Just do a LS4 drop in.

Ah, I missed the rear engine part. Yea an LS4 would sure be easier and cheaper...

6t70 is weaker trans though, have serious issues with 3-5-R wave plate, 6l80, or even 6l90 would be much more reliable for something that size.. All you would need is a torque converter housing and pump from a truck or camaro, and be good to go with the output shaft from a vette... But it is going to be a lot of space taken up with an engine trans and diff all mounted inline...do you have any pics or a better descripion of how the engine/trans/diff would mount?

The key part of this is to ensure that I will be able to have a Factory ECM and trans controller operate the engine and the Frankenstein 6L80e properly with no hiccups.

As for the power-plant layout. It will fit.
I took a level and found the center axle location and measured it out including fan and radiator.

You should have no problem controlling it with a factory ecm/tcm, the trans doesnt care what its in, i have a trans out of an 06 vette in my 08 yukon with an 08 os flashed into it...

Ls4's also came with a 4T65e HD, a even weaker transmission. Only built units would be wanted but that thing is way too heavy for a 4T65e. Useless information but I'd chime in anyway lol.

I'm curious - what is "way too heavy" to you? How many lbs?

BTW - My plan is not having FWD with this project.

How is that so. Isn't the main shaft of the Vette trans way longer than that of any GM truck?

Again I am way too naive about this computer stuff. Sadly it is making it harder to move forward and start buying stuff for my project.

I was told that the valve body in the Vette trans and the one in the truck trans are different.

I was told that the computer gets its reading one way from the Vette and another way - if you will from the truck. And trying to have one system gain the info needed to operate them is going to be a problem due to how it gathers the info and reads it.

If all the proper info is not being sent to the ECM - it will not be able to process it properly. And the truck uses sensors all over the place to gather information for the ECM. Or this is what I have been lead to believe. And it is this part of my project that scares me from pulling the trigger and buying the 6L80e and Vette Diff this week. For fear I will never be able to get everything to work properly together.

I hope that makes sense.

BTW - below are the two different 6L80e transmissions. Notice the main shaft lengths are different between the Vette and Truck 6L80e.

Here is a Truck 6L80e on the right.
NOTICE: The shaft is only as long as the 4x4 adapter on the back of the trans.

Here is a Vette 6l80e.
NOTICE: The main shaft on the Vette trans is much longer than that a truck trans.

Yes the output shaft is longer on the vette, the main difference being the bellhousing/pump setupthe partnumbers on thevalve bodies and tcm areyear dependant not model depepndant.... find the thread i started on 6l80s and there is a ton of info in there https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...k-6l80-544523/
