Default Lets talk 6l80!!!!

Not a whole lot of discussion of what can be done to them performance wise, i know sonnax has the zip kit, which fixes the known fluid circuit leaks, but does anyone make an actual performance oriented shift kit like we are used to for the 4l60/4l80?? I know most of it is done through the tune, but there have to be upgrades to make the mechanical part of it hold up....

And for those that have done this swap in an nnbs truck how did you address the transfer case input??

PATC offers tons of individual parts for sale for the 6l as well as package deals and Circle D has a package deal as well but last time I looked they didn't list selling them individually on the site but surely they would. Be ready to spend a nice fat chunk of change though

See that just it, i dont need the package, much less someone to build it for me, which as far as i can tell with circle d, you send them your trans and they build it or send you one and you send them the core, unless i just didnt dig far enough into their website...which is possible!!

And most of what ive seen on patc's site is clutch packs, no real upgrades havent looked in a while though!!

Last I looked they had the clutch packs some replacement parts for the apply pistons and a couple of billet upgrades and the zip kit and maybe a couple other things I'm not remembering . I dug through the web for days an days and they're literally the only company's I could find selling anything for the 6l80's I suppose they're just to new still and with how much easier it is to hold big power with a 4l80

Im not planning on big enough power in the yukon to justify 4l80 and i want the 6 speed for road trips.... Biggest obstacle at moment is output shaft and tailshaft adaptor housing... I will probably end up with the sonnax zip kit, the 456 upgrade piston kit, and i think it was the 1-2-3-4 piston i saw sonnax had.. Just wanted to see what else was out there if anything

I understand that I don't want to give up the 6spd either but I want it to handle big numbers so I can really play with the boost and the price tag to get it done is up there

See that just it if i decide later on down the road for whatever reason, i want to throw a blower on it, id rather have the 6l80 over the 4l60 any day, if i do end up getting a blower it would probably be a stovk lsa setup or maybe a tvs 1900 and would never push any crazy boost through it, just something to say, "ok i did it, I got blown!!!"lol!!

The 6l80s can hold power IF tuned correctly. My 6l90 is running 12.6@106 and a buddys is running 11.6@116 on his 6l80. BTW theyre both stock trans with converters in em.

Not at 3400 stall. My stock converter stalled at 23-2500 depending on weather. After the Whipple, 3000 although I leave at idle for the best 60' because of shocks, tires, not enough traction even in 4wd now.
