Air Bag Sensor Replacement 2007 Sierra
#1
Hey Guys,
I have a 2007 (new model) Sierra 1500 that recently has the "service the airbag" notice show up on the dash. I am guessing there is a sensor in the bumper? Anybody done one before? Is there a link to the service manual for replacing one anywhere?
Thanks in advance,
Brian

The most common fault is a defective ignitor pack. If you are not a professional mechanic, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY discourage self servicing your modern air bag system. A minor mistake like having a static burst go from your hand to the ignitor on a bag can end very badly, regardless of how rare it may be. Each airbag is roughly 225 grams of explosives (a little less than half a pound)- an accidental triggering can sever limbs from a person.

No, this is a dealership or other qualified repair center job. A Tech II or equivalent is required, Autozone doesn't equip it's stores with high end multidiagnostic scanners (their most expensive scanner might be able to pull codes from your antilock brake system, can't touch BCM or SRS)
