Default Aftermarket spark plug wires, do I still need to run metal spark plug tube shields?

Just swapped on some lt's and in the process I broke a few of my newly installed ac delco wires so I ordered some 90* wires from summit like the NNBS truck have. Just wondering is I still need to run the factory heat shields that go down around the spark plug boot?

New wires which are taylor brand.

I installed the sheilds anyways, just wondering is they are needed or just over kill. Here you can see she shields

I haven't ran the engine yet since I'm waiting on my pcm from black bear so I'm not sure how hot everything will get there.

it's better to have them but it doesnt hurt either way ...the shields are there to protect the wires from excessive heat which will prematurely break down the rubber on the wires,

I've run them without, but it doesn't hurt to put the shields on.

Why GTO instead of Silverado?

They have 90degree bends at the plug end.

Does MSD make any? I can't seem to find some from them, they are all straight at the plug end, even the ones specified for GTO.
