ABS light
#1
Well, a week and a half ago I had to swap out the drivers side front wheel bearing/hub due to two broken wheel studs. It was fine until I took it offroading. On the way back to my house my abs light came on. Last week I had my 4.56 gears installed and I got it retuned. ABS light went away for awhile, now its back on again. I just got back from taking the hub out to inspect it. It looks just like it did when I put it in. I had the codes read and sure enough it said left vss miscommunication. So my question is...
Do I need to replace the entire hub again?

its one of 4 things.
1 one of the front hub sensors
2 speed sensor on tranny output shaft
3 bad ground to abs module
4 abs module needs to be rebuilt.
my abs light has come one and off for the last 2 or 3 years. annoying to say the least lol.

Is the hub aftermarket or GM? Is it new or used, loose?
You do not need to replace the entire hub, first thing to do is take the 5mm allen head bolt out and remove the sensor, check the end of the sensor, is it damaged? You should just be able to see about a 1/8" x 1/4" piece of the magnet at the end of the sensor.
SOME of the aftermarket hubs have different lenght sensors than the OE hubs causing them to either rub on the reluctor wheel or be too short and not read the speed correctly.

Its an aftermarket ebay hub. I've heard descent reviews from them. I sent the seller an email to see if they will warranty the hub. If not I'll just replace it with a Timken hub. Or should I try to just replace the sensor?

Well, it looks like I'm on my own to get this fixed. I did a search with the Timken part number and got this

or is it worth the extra cost to get this one?

I went with the Timken unit. would have cost the same after shipping. Got the hub today and had it installed in about an hour. Took it for a 20 mile test drive. And no light. lets hope it stays off this time.
