Default 86 S10 4.8L/6 speed cam swap knock retard issues

I have posted a log over on the hp tuners forum with no help and was hoping some of you guys would have some insight. Here is a link of there:

WOT knock retard 4.8L 6 speed cam

In summary, i just did a cam swap in my 4.8L/6 speed s10 and am having issues with knock retard at wot starting around 3-4K rpm and sometimes high load like starting from a stop and lugging it a bit. The cam is 223/230 .600/.600 115+3 with 7.4 pushrods and patriot gold springs.

Thanks in advance,
Tyler

6 speed as in a standard right? i edited your fuel cutoff to 6700 rpm, you should be shifting around 6600 with that cam, and edited your VE tables. and your spark tables as well. Alot of little details.

try this file..

Hey thanks a lot man, you made my day!!!

I tried out the changes and they worked great. I didn't realize i had the egr enabled still The knock almost completely went away but i am still seeing a couple cells of knock right when i go wot in first. I think it might be the same knock i was seeing before but with the changes to the knock decay that you made it disappears almost instantly, where as before it would hang around and carry through a bunch of other cells. I also realized that i would be raising my rev limiter but just hadn't done it yet because it wouldn't even run past 4k.

I have a new log that shows wot 1-3. Timing is right about where i wanted it to end up with your changes. Again thanks a ton!!

Sure thing im glad its much better, since you have a 6 speed there is a variety of load points you see in comparison to a a/t, what I would do is drop the timing down in the lower rpms in the 1000 rpm and below by 3 degrees or so. If you're running 93 octane you can increase timing by 2 degrees at wot after 2500 rpms or so. Make sure the manifolds or exhaust isnt rattling as that can be picked up as knock retard. I can't see the log right now but will take a look soon when im done with the trucks in my shop
