Default 4wd wire harness question 2002 sierra.

Ok I originally thought the cab was a 04 and I was putting on a 05 sierra. Well when I got to looking and actually looked on the door its a 2002 that I took off. Will I be able to put the 05 cab on and just switch the new TB and the engine wire harness over and still work? Also the 05 cab isn't a 4wd but the 02 is. Can I strip through the 02 dash and just put the 4wd and hook up the button to the inside and still work? The harness thats there for the 4wd on the 05 is a different connector but I figured if I swapped it over from the new one it should still work.

Ok so what year is the truck originally, and what year is the cab??? The electronics for ac and where they are wired to are different between 99-02 and 03-07 classic body styles.... Your best bet would probably be to take all od the original electronics and swap them to the new cab, if nemory serves the cans structurally are identical

Sorry I got ahead of my self there lol. Original is a 02. The new one is a 05. I won't be able to swap the cab over and it hook up just fine? Other than the engine harness? Cause the harness from within the cab will stay inside the cab and being transferred over or will the pcm not read it right?

The ac wont work on the 05 it allgoes through bcm the 02 goes to pcm.... And there are slight variances in the electronics such as the fuse box in the driver side of the dash, as i said youd be better off sticking with all the wiring etc from one or the other....

Not to mention the lack of serial data on the 02....

So as long as I can swap all 05 over I should be fine? I got a different 05 I should be able to still the rest of the wiring from only one problem exist now is the 4wd. How can I get that to work? the cab I'm pulling off is only a 2wd but has the button from the harness. Can I just buy the dash button and a wiring harness for the 4wd?

/edit

actually come to think of it. How hard would it be to make it a cable linkage? The other cab I have which is also a 05 has the handle on the floor. I bet it'll be easier to switch that cab and complete harness instead of stealing the wires I need from it.

Also, would everything connect to the engine and tranny the same? Since it's newer would I have to change out the plugs that are used on the 02 motor/tranny/TC?

I think the hole is in the floorboard is there for the cable, just need to be driled out not sure about the mounting tabs for the tcase shifter though.... As far as engine sensors there are some that are differemt connectors between the two years, alot are same though.... That would be a have to match up before connecting everythibg to double check

As mentioned, the AC is wired differently even on the engine harness.

The 4x4 switch plug is part of the dash harness. You can not just buy the wiring separately. I believe there is also an electronic module for the Push button 4x4.

Manual 4x4 will be much simpler.

So would i be able to pull sensors or connectors off a compatible engine and swap them over? How easy will that be? And yeah i see the harness on the dash that the 4x4 switch plugs into but where can i find the wire harness for it at?

You can pull the sensor if they are good as well as change the connectors, However You will need a wiring diaghram for both harnesses.

I believe one of the year ranges used a 2 wire sensor and the other year range used a 3 wire sensor for the AC Pressure switch.

As far as the 4x4 harness. It's tied into the main dash harness. You will need to remove the entire dash to get the harness out, untape it and figure out where it runs. Then you would have to do the same for the other truck cab harness, remove it and add it in.

This is why it's best to stay with similar years when doing major swaps or buying parts for repair.

Although the cabs and sheet metal are the same, 99-02 even have minor differences between years. 99-00 are engine harness are wired the same. 01-02 engine harness are wired the same but there are minor differences in the engine harness between the 99-00 and the 01-02. Easy enough to fix in the Tune and make it work.

03-05 are very similar all the way around. 06-07 classic are the same.

The main seat harness, some of the dash harnesses and some other minor changes in control modules and systems like the pedal and tach module differ from 03-05 and the 06-07 classic.
