Ok I had done this so I got ahold of HP tuners folks and the "segment" swaps can be done only on vehicles that had the different transmissions available, Meaning you cant swap a T56 segment into a truck since it never existed. If you had a auto in a Camaro they could swap because it was available. The PCM has to be sent to HP Tuners if I understood correct.
I did like most others and just turned off the codes, the latest HP tuners has a switch to go from auto to Manual I also swapped that out. I am still working on some bucking and surging problems in my tune and dont know if it related or not.
I will PM 1969 for his to compare mine too.
Mine is a boosted 5.3 t56 in my 68 pickup...

I have the HPT demo, so I can look at it. I'll PM you my email.

Mine bucks too when coasting in gear.

Did you wire the transmission range switch to make the PCM think it was in a particular gear?

Once I get mine figured out I will let you know. Currently I am making sure all my timing tables match. and I am going to disable the dfco to try that.
Mine only seems to do this at low speeds and no load. I may be compounding it because I have 3.73 gearing that is pretty high for a T56. I have worked on my ve tables and lowered the values in the idle range because it was so rich. I have them smoothed but will also look at that to make sure I am not making big transitions. I have checked and am not but will look again.

I would do a segment swap for a 5 speed truck, the pcm doesnt care 5 speed or 6 speed. All the 5 speed trucks I have seen were all 4.8's but thats easy to swap to a 5.3 or 6.0. The main thing is you will have the right DTC's and the pcm wont do any weird things with TM with everything zero'ed out if you leave it auto. I used to just turn off all the trans DTC's when we put th350,th400 or glides into camaro's. In my personal car I have had 6 motors and 3 different trans combo's. I left it an auto for in the pcm for years and then out of no where started having alot of weird timing issues. I flashed the same tune over to a manual and never had a single issue again.

The values vary obviously, but the f-body tune still has option to vary settings by gear/park/neutral.
Anyone? Is a segment swap something that's done in the tune, or physically done to the PCM?
