Default 4.8 boost, timing

Ive got a 4.8 that I just installed headstuds and a ls6 cam, other than that motor is stock. With the head studs I upped my boost level from ~ 7lbs at 22* of timing to ~ 18-19lbs and Im hearing a tad of knock on only 9* of timing. I swapped the TR-6 plugs that I started with to TR-7's and the ping went away but I cannot increase timing anymore...It does pull harder than it did before the increase (obviously) but im not sure if im leaving some at the table...So what im asking is what are you guys running at these boost levels? Is this what I should have expected? I do not have any water/meth nor plan on installing it. Maybe its time for a bigger turbo and less boost? Constructive criticisim is welcome

Depends on temperature for me. When its real cool out I turn up the boost. I wouldn't try any more than 12psi with 14 degrees when its hot out (relative for this time of year). When temps are down in the 50s I can run 18psi before I see knock. Haven't changed timing, just boost. You're running pump gas I assume?

Yes just on 93 pump. It was about 74* F here today when I was trying it out on 18lbs. Im thinking Ill lower the boost back down some and see if it still pulls as hard with the timing its lacking. You have a 4.8 as well?

Just to add, I haven't logged any of this knock....it still reads 0 but it is audible

Yeah, the LY2. 74 degrees is hotter than I would try 18psi with lol. But AZ is infamous for its poor fuel quality, so who knows... And thats odd, my knock sensors pull timing long before its audible. In fact I think I've only actually heard it one time.

Have you read the plugs to see what they say? Look and see what the sensitivity is on your knock sensors and make sure those settings havent been changed.. They should definatly detect knock way before you can hear it.

If you still have knock issues, may want to try a little dose of meth.
