Was it tuned after? That's a must.

yes it was tuned after
5.3 tsp228 cam, long tubes, 3000-3200 stall, 4.56 gear it may need more tuning it drives around great and pulls hard but from a stop to 3k rpm somethin is holding the truck back. my buddy went for a ride with me and he said it felt like i hit the nitrous once it got over the 3k rpm

I'd look into spark timing. What do your tables look like?

What tuning software are you using? I just worked on a guys truck yesterday and in EFI Live it is table B2804. When in first gear it limits the throttle position drastically. But you do need to be careful adjusting that table as it can brick your computer.
