Default 2003 GMC Cluster Question...

Hey everyone,

Our 2003 GMC cluster has an issue. The shifter indicator is extremely dim. Has anyone else run across this? I haven't had this happen on my older 2001 truck, it is bright as can be. Thanks.

Does it change brightness with the dial on the headlight switch?

Ah sucks. I've seen it before. Not on my truck but on an escalade cluster i had to take apart. A bunch of the parts inside were burnt up and broken.

This is a very easy fix, top left of the speedometer stepper motor (you need to disassemble cluster) there is two rows of resistors that need to be re soldered. After this it will be bright as new, cheers.

That's the fix? Resoldering resistors? Cause I got dim spots from 0-50mph, or somethin like that, & the gas ga. from 0-1/4 tank. I think that's it, but there may be 1 more like this. All this time, I thought faulty stepper motor(s) were the issue on GM backlighting issues.
