Default 08 silverado throttle relearn?

I had to change my throttle body on my 08 and need to clear codes and do a relearn now. My question is can a scan tool like one at Autozone do the job to reset the values or do I need a Tech II or HP tuners or the dealership?

Ok, what about a ~$100 scanner? Or just go to the shop with a Tech II?

It's a idle relearn. Have to reset the air compensation. Need a tech 2 or similar scan tool with bi-directional controls. Hptuners will work also.

Well I got a relearn and now have an issue with the truck not returning to a normal idle while driving low speeds in a parking lot, etc... And a quick blip of the throttle does it as well. When it does return, it will drop to normal then spike to ~1200 and slowly return to normal. Also on cold start-up it will almost die still and bounce up and down. I did have an intermittent MIL on and found a PO175 code. Yesterday found a crack in a PCV line under the intake cover and fixed it. Thought this was the cause of the PO175 code and my high/fluctuating idle, but after resetting the codes, I still have the issues.

If the problem you are having is related to throttle relearn this is how you do it.

Throttle Learn

With Scan Tool - Reset Procedure

Ignition ON, engine OFF, with a scan tool, perform the Idle Learn Reset in Module Setup.
Start the engine, monitor the TB Idle Airflow Compensation parameter. The TB Idle Airflow Compensation value should equal 0 percent and the engine should be idling at a normal idle speed.
Clear the DTCs and return to the diagnostic that referred you here.

Without Scan Tool - Learn Procedure

Important: Do NOT perform this procedure if DTCs are set. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (See: A L L Diagnostic Trouble Codes ( DTC )\Testing and Inspection\Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions).

Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.
With a scan tool, monitor desired and actual RPM.
The ECM will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired RPM should start to decrease.
Ignition OFF for 60 seconds.
Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.
After the 3 minute run time the engine should be idling normal.

Important: During the drive cycle the check engine light may come on with idle speed DTCs. If idle speed codes are set, clear codes so the ECM can continue to learn.

If the engine idle speed has not been learned the vehicle will need to be driven at speeds above 70 km/h (44 mph) with several decelerations and extended idles.

After the drive cycle, the engine should be idling normally.

If the engine idle speed has not been learned, turn OFF the ignition for 60 seconds and repeat step 6.

Once the engine speed has returned to normal, clear DTCs and return to the diagnostic that referred you here.

Well finally it was the alcohol mixture was off. Reprogrammed the software and that fixed it. Dumb question but, will this affect my tune? I read this was an open recall, yet they charged me for the reprogram.
