look around local city/highway work vehicles... and or state auctions... they sell their state maintenance, and road repair vehicles.... my buddy just picked up a 2001 5.3 rcsb w/ 147,000 mi. for $970.00 after theyre done with them they sell them dirt cheap.... granted they are base models... but if you want something to beat on... there ya go.... and you will have plenty left for mods.....

Perfect deal for you, it has alot of miles but it has some good mods and the truck looks good, with the money you would save you could swap in a 6.0 if you wanted.
and its only 188 miles away!!

I have definitley been looking at that truck but Im a little nervous about the the lifter ticking for 3-5 minutes on the Driver side. Do you think I could just swap in some high performance lifters and fix that. I mean after all stock lifters on a bolt on cammed 5.3 at 220,000 can be expected to perform all that well.

what are you worried about the tick for?? either swap a 6.0 with the remaining cash, or another 5.3 can be had for relatively cheap.... and you will probably still have another 1-1.5k for mods if you do make your engine choice wisely
