dirt track hey before you go get a wireless router what internet service do you have you may not need a router, i know at&t provide wireless routers when they sell internet... what i am getting at is you wouldnt need a wireless router if this is the way you went with, through the telephone company
a basic linksys would be fine or theres the boosted one at a hefty price somewhere around 100.00 bucks.. is your laptop setup with a internal wireless card ..?

How far away from the router do you plan on bringing your laptop? If your house is really spread out with lots of walls and interference (cordless phones, TVs, etc.) or you plan on taking your laptop outside, you might want to consider a more powerful router like a class N router. Most likely, this won't be the case though.
