At most places all you do is type in the info and the parts come up on the screen, you go get the matching part number in the back. Sounds simple enough. If I go in and ask specifically for a serpentine drive belt for an 04 chevy silverado with a 4.8L and automatic transmission with a 105amp alt, whats the problem. I even told him before the search, not the a/c belt, but the main serp drive belt. Hell, I even brought the part number from my last belt, but he still had to look it up on the computer.

Sure i understand that a person cant know everything, but sometimes they just ask stupid questions.
I love when I ask for wiper blades, and they ask if it's 2wd or 4wd

Probably so. The Advance auto stores by my house in Tenn and New York(when I lived there) required their workers to know about vehicles. They wouldnt hire them without testing their knowledge first. It was nice, you go in and talk to someone that actually knows what they are doing. Its few and far between now.

its because alot of those types of parts are mixed in with other things which cause a prompt to come up and ask: 4wheel/all wheel drive? Yes, No, Don't know.

i know its a stupid question, and whenever it happens to me, i usually just hit Dont know, so it displays all options, but if the guy is new or something, hes just following the computer prompts. Just cut them a little slack sometimes, because you can bet that that worker is new if they ask a question like that for something simple

I understand that's how the computer system works, but any dumbass should know that it doesn't make any difference and they could just pick one or the other for something simple like wiper blades.

Oh, and it's definitely not just new guys that ask that. It's the same guy that I've seen for at least a year at the AutoZone by my house.

**** most of the times when I go to one of them with a part they just look at me and say Whats that? I tell them and they argue that it is something else lol and yes that has happened. But ya there are simple things they should know rather then saying well the pc does not show it or ask stupid questions about.
