Default Who has experience with Migraines?

Back in '84 I had a basketball injury to my head, cracked my orbital and lost vision for 3 wks.

Since I've been in Texas ('95) slowly but surley getting head aches and the past few years have tolerable, and now just a big pain in the ***.

I've been through the MRA's and MRI's and still nothing. Dr's see the healed fracture around my orbital, but still can find a reason why I get the migraines at the site of my injury.

So I've tried the meds, the Neurontin, Tramadol, Imitrex, and today's new flavor is Zebutal. Just getting a little frustrated.

Any of you Dr's have any input?

I get really severe migranes at least a few times a month

the best meds i have found is not a preventative but a headache medicine called Maxalt it's a melt and it's a vasodialator and kills even the worst migranes (loosing vision and all) in about 30 minutes

I can't even say that I get one a month, but when I do I'm even more useless. I called the Dr's office about that Maxalt and they said it's a common prescription. Hmmm, so why didn't they give it to me?

Meanwhile back at the ranch, me thinks the Zebutal is going to kick in soon. I having to look at the keys to type....

Thanks for the info

I get them sometimes, not really sure if it is a migraine, never gone to the doc for it, but it wakes me up in the middle of the night, usually hurts so bad I can barely see... Usually I just take 2 Extra Strength Tylenol (750mg) and drink a soda, and it goes away in roughly 30min...

See mine is in the same spot everytime and fortunately is DOESN'T travel. Sit's right at the outside corner of my left eye and temple area. My trauma was from head to head contact diving for a loose ball. The other girl's forehead hit my eye.

I get them every once in awhile. Now that I am used to it I catch them before they kick in and am good to go. If I dont catch them ahead of time I am down and out for the rest of the day. My vision starts getting blurry and then I start getting dissy before it hits... As soon as my vision gets blurry I take 3 Extra Strenth Tyl. and hope it only progresses into a head ache.

Once I do get one the only thing that works for me is to sleep it off.

See I'd like to knock the hope out along with the migraine.

i used to get them about once a week when i was younger, it was due to not eating or at least my self diagnosis. i eat alot now and there is always those times where im working and want to get the job done rather than taking a brake cleaning up and then getting back into it.

so i do still get them from time to time, only thing that usually helps me is two advils , a wet wash cloth on my forehead and try to lie down.

if i just let it go i will get to the point where i have to vomit for a while before i can even sleep it off. they suck badly.

i used to have a perscription but that has been years i dont even remember what i took .

Yep mine is in the same spot too, every single time, but I usually only get them around season change, like fall to winter or winter to spring... Oh they are terrible, but 2 extra strength tylenol and a soda, usually takes care of it in like 30min.... I only get them like 99% of the time when I am asleep, and it wakes me up... Mine might not be migranes, just allergies or something, like I said I have never been to the doc for them, I just kinda bare threw it... I do feel for you thou..
