When do you know to draw the line with spending money on the truck?

Wait until you get a little older and have actual real bills such as a house... then you should really look into to this...

These guys are right Chad, save your money when you can.
If I go to the ATM and withdraw money and my balance remaining is less that $50,000 I get a sick feeling in my stomach. Hard to explain, like I'm having a mini panic attack, then I make sure I behave my self for a few weeks.

6 months salary isn't that much money to save up in a few years. 6 months is the routine guideline from pretty much any financial guru in case of layoffs, emergencies, etc. Of course those living paycheck to paycheck aren't going to be able to save up because they spend pretty much every dime they make.

chad me of all ppl cant say much about spending money on my truck but i will say this I saved up 5500 bucks of summer jobs to buy my camaro it hurt spending it all in one sitting but hell dude i love that car and its what I like. I know you want to go fast now case the looks are in the bag just take it step by step go for 14.9 then 14.5 then 13.9. You will have fun doing the mods and get more friends as you go its fun and you know it is. You can hit those 14.9s easy with headers then maybe some mid to high 14s with some 4.11s and a true track and then get you a stall. The faster you go the more $$$$ but the bigger the grin is at the end of the track.

First I'm going to look into headers but I have a few maitaince things needing to be done. Truck almost has 60k miles on it. So I need to do oil, trans, and other fluids in the truck. Fix the damn e vap sensor, new rear tires and then headers. Priorities are being put at the front of the to do list before any more mods.
