i would stick it in the bank.
times right now are not very good, and **** is not getting any better.
the price of gas slowly gos up for summer and what happened.
3.5 million barrel surplus and the price is droping a little at the pump.
**** on ebay is not selling for as much as it was, people are backing off in the bid war.
lumber mills are only taking in so much a day because construction slowed way down.
right now it is better to hang on to it then to let it go.
dont be a fool and act like it is burning a hole in your pocket.

For the comment about not planning on retiring for 40 years, you never know when you are going to need some extra cash for emergencies. At some point, a majority of people are going to have some form of medical emergency. Besides, compound interest is your friend. Put it in now and let it work for you.
IF you were going to spend it on your truck, IF, I would do as Atomic suggested. You're going to find that forced induction is much more expensive then you thought. You will find EVERY weak point in your driveline and it won't be a cheap learning experience.

If it were me personally. I would do the gears, cam, stall, and tune. I would skip the locker and the built trans and safe that cash for a rainy day or put it in a cd, although interest rates are ****, its still something.

take the life lesson, in a few short years/months you may really wish you had. It's impossible to see things coming and if you save, you avoid them for free. 5K covers a lot of "unexpected" expenses.
If in a year you still want to go fast, and you've saved the money, you have more than you put in, free money there aswell.
The speed/upgrade parts will always be there, this 5K won't be, whatever you do put some thought into it first. A radix is hard to sell for what you bought it for if something comes up before you install it or even after. The second truck idea would be good, but if something came up and you tried selling a truck it may be difficult. I know the market in my location is good if you're willing to lose a bit of money, trucks are still somewhat of a hard sale depending on your market.
