Default truck towing???

hey guys i was thinking about buying a truck in a few weeks. it'll be my daily driver and i'll be using it tow my car. i really don't know what truck to get as far as towing, decent gas mileage, and or just best all around. my budget is limited to about $11,000 and im open to whatever year or kind of truck it is. if u guys can give me some ideas at to what kind of truck or what to look for, i would appreciate it. also, do any of u guys that tow ur vehicles using a v6 truck? and if so what kind?

What are you towing? Will it be an enclosed trailer or open? How often and how far will the trailer and car be towed?

if you not towing but 5-7klbs any 1/2 ton will work unless you are towing it every week. but once a month or less will be fine. More then that you might want to step up to a 3.4 ton.

I would say for the best balance between a tow vehicle and a daily driver you should look at a Duramax...

Why can I not see these two things working at the same time? That would be nice (no dude ... Like, that would be awsome! ), but I just can't see it happening.

Find an old Ford with a 7.3L PowerStroke! Yes, I'm biased. However, it's not like I haven't seen every brand out there and I've also driven most. This is a truck you can count on for hundreds of thousand of happy, worry free miles. Mine has nearly 193,000 and I used it today(and day before yesterday) to tow 5 dirtbikes(4 in the bed), a 4WD Polaris 400H.O. Scrambler, riding gear for 6, fuel for everything, food and drinks, etc. and an enclosed trailer, roughly 5hrs each way and into(and back out of) some really nasty terrain with no trouble. All the while, it got over 15mpg average. The total load minus the truck itself, was about 5,000 pounds. Maybe it was more, but the point is, this took us where we needed to be and comfortably at that.

I saw a 94ish Silverado Z71 with its two 4wheelers off-loaded with ramps still hanging on the side of the trailer, sitting at the entrance of where we went, instead of trekking it like we did. Surely it would've made it, but he didn't(for whatever reason) go through any rough stuff with it.

On the way home, I saw a Dodge 3500 with Cummins power, just sitting off the hwy with it's trailer and "overload" still attached. His was clearly broken down(broken transmission I suspect). Afterall, you just don't leave a 30+K dollar truck along with it's trailer, hauling an easily 40+K dollar tractor alone if it still runs.

Diesels aren't cheap, but you can find a decent 7.3L powered F-series for under 10K and you may not even have to get one that's more than about 7yrs old if you really look. Just pay attention to whatever you get, as not all trucks are as good as they look.
