Tell me your thoughts....super sport bikes

Well, I have been tossing around the idea of getting a bike. Most of my close buddies have them I want me to get one and ride with them. One guy just bought an 06 R1, another has a gsxr 750, one has a gsxr 600, and another has an f4i, and the last has an R6.
I have been looking at the zx-10r's. They look sweet and the best part is that Kawasaki will finance me and Yamaha wont. I waws thinking about an R6, but I cant finance through Yamaha, I'd have to go through my bank. The 'saki promo their running right now sound pretty good, and the guy at the shop told me he doesnt charge frieght and set-up(they are a new dealer, but probably the coolest ppl you'll meet) So a zx-10r is like 11,200+tax/lisence I may try and talk him down to $11k OTD, but in that doesnt work I'll try $11,200 OTD, and if that doesnt work Ill fanagle some other dealerships and see what they can do, then go back to him and see if he'll beat it.
But anyways, I just wanted to get some feedback from you guys. Oh, and by the way Im 6'4'' 240 and the liter bikes feel good and comfortable compared to the 6's which seem small and unstable.

not on super sport bikes.
Been riding/racing dirt bikes since I was 4. Snowmobiles since I was 7(currently have a Yamaha RX-1 with a Bender stage II turbo putting out about 260 horse). Sea-doos, boats, whatever, everything. I have had some time on the street with a dual sport bike.
....so yeah, I guess I have a lot of riding experience. And I can handle power.

liter class bikes can surprise you. Especially the new ones, crazy horsepower numbers. I'm with the gripster on Keith Code, the man knows what he is talking about. I plan to take his courses on the track when I get time.

I've had personal experience with suzuki's and kawasaki's... they like to blow through sparkplugs and pistons.
I'm buying either a f4i or hopefully, a CBR 600RR sometime within the next two weeks. I learned on a honda f3 a looong time ago, and have always loved them. Yamaha makes a good bike too, but imho they're no CBR.

Any way of talking you out of a ZX-10? That's one serious machine. As a former trackday instructor, it's more frequently the big bikes that get people into trouble. Especially if it's a first bike. Riding on the street is a lot different than the experience you mention. I also ride dirt. I would really recommend you get a used bike and get used to that and then move up. And also, check insurance on that bike before you buy.

Yeah what the head said DEFINATELY CHECK INSURANCE as sport bikes are alot higher than cruisers and also when you get over 1000cc's that puts you in a higher insurance bracket too...

I say get the 1000cc bike and control yourself unless your on a deserted road.
You will get bored wringing the **** out of the 600cc bike, don't get me wrong, they are fun and fast too, you just have to work for it too much.
In traffic a 600 can be a pain in the ***. 17,000rpm redlines are not traffic freindly, 8000rpm is wher the power just starts.
With the 1000cc you will just be able to drive in a gear or two and be ok all round, just torque away from the sheep.
My last bike was an R1. The Kawi 1000 is supposed to be killer fast!!
Best of all, almost nothing can touch you on a 1000cc, almost.
