Full coverage quote I got for my bike 1 year ago when I got is was well over 2g's. I have a clean record and even have the motorcycle safety foundation course discount.

And also, check insurance on that bike before you buy.

I have seen many a squid trash their 600s after a week to a month. They are more affordable to begin with and with insurance as well, makes them attractive to first time buyers.
Some people have absolutely no respect for the capability of an open class bike that does sub-ten second quarters out of the box. Those people should not buy them but will anyways.
I think if you have respect for the machine and drive responsibly he should be ok. You just can get in over your head a little quicker with another 30-60hp on tap.
With 120-130hp 600s out there with a hair-trigger power band you must be carefull in a different way, like riding a two-stroke with no low end and a top end rush that will flip you on your ***!

Yeah just look on one of the video hosting sites. Search for motorcycle crashes, and revel in all the idiots who wreck their bikes the first day they have them.

I usually tell people to look at a suzuki SV650s for a first time street bike. They are cheap, reliable, with pretty good power, and fun to ride. Powerband on these things is pretty smooth. Ride it for a year and you may not want to move to a 4 cyl.

My 01 F4i does pretty good for my 6' 155# frame and its plenty quick enough to get you in trouble quick. TGO is right about traffic on a 600 but I just keep it in first and hold the clutch in give it a bump the let out of the clutch again. I bought my bike used for 4K with a 1300 buck pipe hanging off the side and a few other goodies. Buy used cause I PROMISE you WILL lay it down/drop it/scratch it whatever. Get a cheaper used bike first learn on it then step up to the big boys. This is what I am doing right now. I have had my bike for 7 months now and have put a couple thousand miles on it and have learned ALOT. This time next year I plan on selling it and getting a litre bike then but for now Im still learning. Safety course and the video are a MUST I learned alot from that. Also need to factor in riding gear and mods cause you know its not going to stay stock. If I remember correctly you are just starting your business and do you think a 12K bike is going to do you real good when you need to pay for bills etc. Insurance for me with the course discount, being 20, full coverage its about 140 a month. Factor it all in and go from there. Get a small bike to begin with IMO.

ZX-10 is a bad *****. From what I have read, the new liter class supersports are not that much more inherently stable than the 600 SS's, and they have half again more power.

As mentioned, if you are financing, you will have to get full coverage insurance, which will be absurdly expensive at best. If you have a good thing going with a Kawasaki dealer, you might look into the Ninja 650R.

Going with the top of the line high performance stuff for your first streetbike is risky, but if you think that you can handle it, it is totally up to you. Good luck and post up pics if you get a bike.

I think I checked with AAA and didn't qualify for some reason or another, can't remember now. Might look into it again, thats still cheaper than what I pay now.

Went to the Suzuki shop today and fell in love with the gsxr 1000....and it is close to the color of my truck. I talked the guy down in price and he went to 12,200 OTD. I was like "mehhhhhh, I'm in no hurry, I would like 12 OTD." So I walked out and got in my truck. Started to drive pull out of my spot and he came out waved and said the manager wanted me back inside! LOL.

So I went back in and he said he wanted me on bike today. So, I said I wasnt ready today and what-not, but he went to 12k OTD if I can do it in the next few days.

At the Kawasaki shop, I can get a better deal, but the resale of the bike is not as good. And the guy at the dealership told me that" YOU DONT HAVE TO INSURE THE BIKE IN OUR STATE" So...........

And my buddy who just got his R1 also told me he didnt need Ins.

Now what the heck should I do??? lol

I completly agree with TG02Z71 on his opinions. I feel the excact same way.

Also, I have heard plenty about Kieth Cole, I would love to take his course. They also have courses out at Pacific Raceways here that I will be looking into.

Myt businees is a seperate deal, I have have funds for that. Everything is already taken care of for me to get started, and I will not have to worry about bills when I get going because I already have everything planned out.

This isnt really a spur of the moment deal, I have put some thought into it and know that it is possible if I get approved through the finance dept. on the bike.

Do what you want man. You will love that bike. I don't know how temperamental of a throttle they have, so don't forget about the power. Just ride smart, with your previous experience you know what I mean. Not like you are a complete noob or anything.

Break it in slow, better for you and the bike.

Rubber side down.
