Some people don't have a clue - an amusing tale of stupidity

So I'm at my wife's aunt and uncles house this past weekend for Christmas brunch, when her cousin and her husband (we'll name him "the tool") drive up in their new H3. So I go outside with the husband, and two of my wife's uncles to check it out. One uncle says to the tool, pop the hood, lets see the engine. I say, "These have the new I-5." No one hears me. So they open the hood and uncle # 1 says, "What size engine is that, a six?" To which the tool replies, "No, it's a V8, a 350, see Vortec 3500. Infact It's the same engine that's in the Corvettes and my Escalade" I just stood there in awe, as to the gross number of errors that just spewed from his mouth. I wanted to own him so bad because he such a cocky bastard, but I let it go, it was Christmas, you know. Uncle # 2 says, "Wow, it is amazing that a V8 can be so small, like the size of a V6!". Now I'm screaming inside, "That's because it's not even a 6 cylinder." Holy crap!!
So it begs the question, does the tool really know that it is a 5 cylinder and just wanted to make the truck out to be more than it is, or is he just repeating the line he got from a salesman because he obviously has no clue?

Unlike you I wouldnt ahve been able to hold my tongue. I would have been like "Dude, you are so wrong, 3500 stands for 3.5L of engine displacement, a 350 is roughly 5.75L of displacemnt, next its an inline 5 cylindernot a V configuration, next your escalade doesnt have a 350 in it either it has a 364CI 6L engine not the venerable 350 which isnt even a generation 3 block in ANY form whether it be in vortec model in the late 90s trucks or the old generation 1 blocks that have been around since before any of us were born. You should really get your **** straight before trying to look smart, find me 8 plug wires I only see 5 so how does it fire 8 cylinders with only 5 plugs and plug wires?" Then i would walk off inside the house but then again Im a jerk like that and cant stand the "Know it all syndrome" that some people have. Props for not letting him have it cause I would have

I must have met that guys brother last week. I was at a farm auction and there was a nice Jeep J10 pickup there for sale. I was checking it out and popped the hood and this guy appears from out of nowhere and instantly starts telling me all about it. He says "this thing has one of them big block 460's in it"
I keep quiet and just keep checking it out, clearly knowing that it is a 360. He gets in the truck and says "hey, this thing is a two-wheel-drive, there's no 4x4 shifter". I tell him it has a full-time four-wheel-drive transfer case, there is no shifter, it is engaged in 4x4 all the time. He looks at me like I'm crazy and keeps looking for a shifter. He pulls on the **** for the headlights and says "here it is!".
He gets out and asks me how big I think those wheels are. I say probably 15". He gives me another funny look and instead of looking on the tire sidewall, he whips out a ******* tape measure and tries to measure the rims. Sure enough, 15".
I had to walk away from this moron after that. It was too early in the day to make a new enemy.

J/K, I'm the same way.
