Default Shipping questions?

Im not sure how many of you actually had to deal with my question since most of you guys already live in the USA, but I live in Canada. Sooo my options of where to get performance parts are somewhat limited, sure I can go down to the local autoparts store and get some lets say headers, they will either be garbage or Ill pay an arm and a leg for a decent set. my question is, if any of you guys have imported something from another country for example shipped headers from Canada across the border, did you have to pay an brokerage fees? Ive only had to pay brokerage fees twice, once for the body lift i got from beastmode which was 80 bucks in fees, and again from another member off gmfullsize for some ss bumper brackerts, paid 100 bucks for the brackets and paid 130 bucks in brokerage fees!! wtf is up with that??!! I bought wheels for my dirtbike off ebay and didnt have to pay the fees and they came from California, so anyone that can give me an idea of when brokerage fees are applied and what the amount is determined on would be great appreciated, thanks alot! Sorry for the long rant

i dont know how far you live from the border.
my neice lives in canada were always shipping stuff up to her and the kids.
my neice crossed and set up a mail box etc here in the us.
fed ex, ups, us mail all deliver to it.
we will send her the tracking number and when it shows as being delivered she will come over and pick it up and cross back over with no problems.
i think her box is something like 49.99 for 6 months, or it may be a year, not sure.
all i remember is one x-mas they opened up the boxs and made her pay a tax for each item.
i know it was over 200 and we felt really bad about it because we didn't know.

yeah I thought about that, but the gas the it would take to get there across the border and back would be more then the cost of brokerage fees

I bought a throttle body from Allgonoshow (I think, it was a few years ago), who is in Nova Scotia IIRC, and don't remember paying any brokerage fees...
