I seem to remember a similar thread you posted a couple months ago...

More of an aftermath thread though.
What is it that you do?

I work for oreillys, so I get to put it with peoples broken down **** everyday. EVERYONE that comes in has a problem, and I'm supposed to be able to give them advice to fix it for free.
And I was closing with a new guy who didn't know how to do anything, even something as simple as looking a light bulb. So basically I did all the nights work by myself, and we were busy as ****. Was pretty stressful, plus I have to write a paper tonight and study for finals.

Atleast you know what youre doing and talking about. Guy at my local Oreilly's has a 8 second ford unibody that he works on and races, but can't tell me **** when i have questions about something.
He also says I'll dump 15 grand in my truck just to hit 12's.

Just to give you guys an idea of what I have to put up with. This is within a few hours, I had to help some guys with a mechanical fuel pump for a boat and all the brass fittings needed to rig up their fuel system, a voltage regulator and main relay for a late 60s dodge (wasn't sure of what year so had to dig through catalogs and computer listings), trailer brake module and harness for a dodge pickup, had to try to find a headlight bulb for a guy with an 08 international semi truck but had no idea what model number it was, had to look through pages of invoices for a guy who had a commercial business down in houston because he wanted to warranty some bearings. That's just a few of the things I had to take care of, while there were 3 to 4 customers waiting in line behind them, all the while they're getting pissed because they have to wait. It might not sound like it's that hard, but the applications are so broad and sometimes time consuming, it gets hectic trying to deal with everything all at once. Especially when you're in charge and the only person there to help out is a new guy who has no idea how to do anything. Oh ya, add in the phone ringing off the hook every couple minutes with people looking for prices on parts over the phone.

A lot of my customers have a problem understanding LIMITED lifetime warranties. I'm not going to replace your brake pads 3 times a year, for the next 5 years, for free. Of course I can warranty your brake pads if you're a nice guy or a repeat customer that I'm familiar with, but if joe blow comes in and I see he's warrantied brake pads 5 times in the past year, he's not getting ****.
