Default Remembering my old friend as it was hauled off today...

Well my mustang that i have had since i was 16 got hauled off today for scrap... It was just toooo far gone with rust to try and repair. I am a pretty good sheet metal guy but this was just tooo much.

Here it was in its prime

I bought the car when i was 16 and fully restored it by myself, pre internet days, soooooo lots of reading in magazines and books... I worked in a body shop part time to learn how to paint... The car saw 4 engines, 2 trannies, 2 rear ends while i had it.. Basically it was my starting point for my automotive hobby...

Here is a few before and after shots...

Then i was gonna try and build it up as a race car... This is as far as i got before i called it quits....

Here it is being hauled away

Shouldn't have scrapped it, I feel you will regret it.

Damn good job on the restoration! It seems everyone is so busy these days, they sorta have to pick one hobby and stick with it. I vote keep the truck, and stick with it! You seem to do really good work on everything, and contribute some valuable information to the forum!

Yep lots of memories . I had my first date in that car. First speeding ticket. That car got me through high school and 7 years of college. Picked up tons of girls in it. Never had sex in it thou. Annoying at the time but always got questions about it where ever i stopped. That car was with me for 17 years.

I was rather said to see it go but i can always pick up another or do another restoration. I might try and talk my father out of his 55 2 door belair that has been sitting at his house or my sisters 65 mustang fastback that has also been sitting.

Only good news about all of it is that i have alot of spare room now in my 3 car garage.

ouch bro, I didnt know you had it long. I started to ask when you texted me earlier.... I always said I would keep my truck forever, and recently have had thoughts of parting it out.
