Paid $225 for the remote. After I figure out the programing it should easily do anything I need for a long time to come...

I got a new Sony 5 disk DVD player too. It's not an HD player but it does have the HD upscale feature when using an HDMI cable. I'm using an S-video cable now and it looks great but I ordered a couple HDMI cables with my remote. It is so much better than the old analog tube TV even with no cable or sattelite programing. I'm still just using the antenna, but the free digital channels are sweet!

I'm not planning on mounting it to the wall anytime soon. We are slowly working on this house to sell, hopefully sometime within the next couple of years. I want to move out of town.

I think it is pretty obvious that you intentionally broke it so you could get the 50 incher. Very nice play...

The upconvert on regular DVD playes is alright it only upconverts to 720i which is just the next step up from regular DVD which is 480p. Svideo is fine for 720i, 720p is what all the HD cable/satellite channels are broadcast in so using an HDMI cable from your cable/satellite box to the TV will be beneficial. Also if you get an HDDVD player it will upconvert your regular DVDs to 720p(most of them). Im sure your tv is 1080p which in that case if you get a blu-ray or HDDVD player(make sure get a good one the cheaper ones are only 1080i) you will be amazed at the color clarity. My tv is only 1080i BUT it was only a thousand bucks
