Scott, while u might be normal ...sorta.

Some might not be. Those are the ones I'd worry bout. Cause most likely, they didn't go thru proper channels i.e. registered legal gun, bla bla.

If someone has nothing to hide then they'll have a reg. piece & so on. If now, for instance, they skirt the law, get gun off the street, & there was no background check on them to protect you. I know things can still go sideways even w/. those checks in place, just sayin.

Know what I mean?

If the people you're worried about are criminals in the first place, what good are laws and restrictions on good citizens?

Okay. so a classroom of lets say 500 people Conservatively. 1 nut job decides to shoot the place up and then 20-30 NORMAL people exercising their right to carry put him down before he has a chance to kill dozens of people.

How is that not better than 499 unarmed people and 1 nut job with a gun?

That's assuming that the 20 - 30 know how to put rounds on a target. Just because you own a gun and register it doesn't mean you have one idea how to use it. I would think 20 - 30 people shooting might have 3 or 4 that are good shots and the others might cause more collateral damage than the one nut job. Or because they have an aversion to killing someone they don't, they only have it because it is a deterrent that they never really intend or imagine about using.

Side note: Friend of mine (school teacher) recently had a student drop a gun out in science class. Took one running kid to get the cop. Kid was 14.

I have a few guns. Been in a few areas where I wish I had one. But because I do not have a concealed carry I don't. Figure whatever I have they can take. I can probably replace it.

A lot of people don't know how to drive either yet we still let them do it.

The majority of gun owners enjoy shooting. I go to the range as often as I can/can afford.

Oh I don't know on gun owner that doesn't love shooting. Not all are good enough IMO that I would want to stand near them in a closed enviroment during a crisis.

I know one that is good enough, but he is on the marksmanship team at my command. That's it.

this also brings up the debate of even though its illegal to carry on campus and you have a ccl, do you still carry anyways? what if something goes down, and you as a ccl holder takes out said nutjob, what are the reprocussions? does the law just leave you alone, because you saved a bunch of lives and protected the community by breaking a law, or do you get severely punished?

Not to mention the strong negative emotions knowing that you could've done something to save peoples lives.

But, to me the risk is not very high and chances are very high that I will never be a part of that situation. So I would not conceal carry to class until it becomes legal.

yes i would feel very horrible knowing that i could have done something. but your other point about the chances not being high, well im sure most people who end up in that situation think the same thing. you just never know if it will happen to you or not, its completely random. i carry in my truck, a very compact 870 with 00buck, because of the area i go to school in. i hope to god i wont ever need to use it, but the way i look at it i look at it like offroading. its better to have 4wd and not need it, then to have 2wd and need 4wd when you get in a bind. i have the personality type of a very strong defensive person, i am very defensive and protective of people i know and people around me against others who like to cause harm mentally and physically. having the legal ability to defend people around me would make me very happy, and im sure would decrease the number of shootings, muggings, rape, and other crimes. i guess you can say this is why im going into law enforcement/ govt. work. its a passion of mine to reduce the number of low life scum on the earth willing to do others harm for no good reason.
