Well, I was gonna to my tranny swap to the 4l80 last weekend, but the buddy who's lift I was gonna use had it occupied. So last minute, I though I would go to the truck meet down in San Antonio TX. So I texted Cody (1slow01Z71) to see how far from the track he lives as I needed a place to stay. He said he was about 45 minutes from the track and had a couch I could crash on. So I thought, what the heck, I'm going.
Its a bit of a hall down there, about 18 hours,
That was about 9pm Thursday, and I was on the road at 8 the next morning. Got down there about 3am Saturday morning. Got some sleep and we headed out to the track. Was having a good day, had made 2 passes, first was a 12.6@106 on just 8psi, so I though I'd bump it up to 10 and see what it would do. Well, that netted me a 12.2@110. That match my previous best up here at 4800' with the smaller T70 turbo running 14psi. Well, I "had" to have a new PB and break in to the 11's, right?
so I cranked it up to 13 psi to see what it would do. I should have know better then to do that being I was 1300 miles from home, lol. It launched about with 7psi, spun the tires (all 4) so I lifted and stabbed it again and it hooked and went. Then it went to shift into 2nd gear and BANG!! Broke the out put shaft in the tranny
I wasn't sure what I was gonna do, broke down and 1300 miles from home. Cody was like, well, lets go get my trailer and get you back to my place and you can use my spare 4l60 to get home. I was like WOW! That was REALLY cool of him. So we towed it back, and he helped me put his spare tranny in my truck on Sunday so I could get home. All he asked is that I ship it back to him after I swapped my 4l80e (which is 100% ready to go in BTW,
) in the truck.
Overall, it was a GREAT time and Cody is a HELL of a guy. I own him a huge gratitude of thanks for his generously!! Defiantly one cool guy!!!

I would've told you to take a hike, and left your *** at the track.
You should've left the original 60E in it. That thing was bullet proof.....well almost.
So I think the price on your tranny just went down.

Mark, I still live at the same place, I guess its more like an hour, either way its not too far. Did you end up going down there? I thought I saw your truck a couple times but everytime you were driving otherwise Id have said hi.
