Default More crazy weather in Alaska

We've been getting beat down pretty hard in Alaska, with 2 huge wind & rain storms in the last 2-3 weeks. They brought with them extensive flooding & damage to the states road system, railroad system, and homes & businesses.

Watching the news lately, nothing has been said about more weather coming our way. But, here's a satellite image from a few minutes ago.

Unsure of how reliable they are, but WeatherNation has this to say:

"The third in a series of storms to strike Alaska will be bringing near hurricane force winds to the state. The low pressure system associated with this storm dropped an "incredible" 42 mb in 24 hours, and in sheer size it could cover half of the lower 48. For more on this storm and weather around the country, check out our HD live stream."

Means a massive lower pressure system is about to kick your ***. MB=millibars which is what atmospheric pressure is measured in. Basically the atmospheric pressure is about to drop a lot and suck everything in that's near that system. Sounds like you're in for a lot rain and more shitty weather.

The strange part is that none of our local news has said anything about what's coming. Are they trying to prevent panic? If so, that's stupid. People need time to prepare, if something bad is on the way. Dumb media.....

It means that someone flushed a giant toilet and you are in the middle of all that swirling mess. It's basically a low-grade hurricane with super low pressure in the middle. As the center moves closer, the pressure drops more. It looks like a fast-moving deep low.

Cody is right. And low pressure systems/drops like that are typically associated with hurricanes, which is what that thing sort of looks like lol. I would say its weird that you have that sort of storm system moving in because ocean water temperature is typically too low for it...but the last half of this summer has been the beginning of an El Nino which should last well into next year. El Ninos bring a lot of moisture to North America due to elevated ocean temps and often last for over a year. I believe we're all in for a wet winter...
