straped for cash took a road trip from Minnesota to Maine, then came down the east coast to go to Philly, and came right through New Jersey, so we hooked up today just to hang out and shoot the ****. We checked out each others trucks, he showed me his TBSS intake, fuel rails, etc., then I took him over to my favorite burger joint
He told me how he got a ticket last night for his left side tail and license plate lights not working, so we took a look at it. Got my schematic out, found the wire that was open, and traced it back to where the harness goes behind the body mount, in the area in front of the L/F door, right at the back of the L/F wheel well...had to pull the fender skirt up to access the harness. There's a plastic clip on the harness that's supposed to keep it stationary, and the clip broke, allowing the harness to rub against a bolt sticking up right next to it...the wire broke clean through and was full of green mold. It was getting dark and dinner was on the table so I made a quick repair with a small length of wire and some shrink wrap that should hold up fine permanently if Peter can't find the time to go over it again and make it a little "prettier" with some solder.
We both discussed how it seems like we start to get a project going, then seem to run out of time (and money) to finish it right and have to glue and duct tape it together lol. Seems to happen to both of us way too often!
I gotta say that Peter is a great guy and it was a pleasure to meet and hang out with him. Glad that I was able to help out too so he can make it back to Minnesota without piling up a stack of silly tail light tickets.
Hopefully he'll be able to take a trip out this way again, it was a good time

Billy is a great guy. Pretty much what you read is what you get. I felt like he rolled out the red carpet for a complete stranger.
I never even thought about pulling out my camera
. Bills truck makes mine look like an even bigger turd. My truck has been used and abused. I am at 2500 miles total for the trip so far. As long as I am on the hwy I've been getting over 20 mpg.
My little side trip was awseome. Its a good thing one of his favorite things is electrical
since I never would have found the bad wire.
This has been a great trip so far and meeting Billy was icing on the cake.

I just today thought, "****, why didn't I take my camera out and take some pictures!". But I think that at first I was just so excited about meeting a stranger, and how it might work out. Glad that Peter is a great guy, and in a very short time I felt relaxed and comfortable. Also glad that I was able to help out too, good folks need a break once in a while
NJ cops have no sense of humor, and just love easy money...an inoperative tail light is like gravy to them
