Tom started as a shop that did installs as well as selling mail order parts.
different set of costs to have a shop as opposed to selling stuff cheap on ebay.
not saying he may not have other business problems, but you can't compete with ebay and run an install shop as well, imho
I have a general repair shop and have people here all the time with cheap performance exhaust looking for installation, I do it, but I charge big time for it

I love how Tom complains about other shops undercutting him on price when he was the ***** that started that **** first.
And as far as the economy effecting his business that is what happens when you build your business on just having the cheapest prices. All the good shops I know haven't been effected by the economy because their customer base was built on quality service not just price.

I may be a dick but I tell the truth. He complains about the internet ****** putting him out of business but he was the pioneer of doing what the internet guys do now. Carry no inventory, run the business out of their house, and dont even install any parts. He did finally get a shop and start installing parts a few years ago but for a long time he was the guy that he posted about undercutting him. So he is a little hypocritcal.

Business slowed down alot over the last year and then there are always new vendors popping up. Many customers talk about good service but I've found that most go for the lowest price. There were times when I'd spend 45 minutes on the phone with someone and then have them purchase from somewhere else because their price was lower.
