Lost My Job...kind of
#1
So it's not a big surprise to me, because I keep my ear to the ground, and all the tell tale signs have been there, but.....Our whole AZ operation is closing over the course the next 4 months.
I've been looking at other companies and I've put myself out there the past couple of weeks since I'm pretty fed up with this place, but yesterday we got the official word from our cheap-*** president.
The thing that chaps my *** sooo much is that the ******* president invented this stupid oxy-moron called "infinite capacity", which basically means we can produce anything at anytime. Well guess what the ************ said the reason we were closing? "Too much capacity." ******' *******.
I just got my severns "package" today, which isn't too much since this was my first job out of college and I've been here a little over 2 years, but it was more than most.
My last day is supposed to be Feb 29th, and I don't get a lick of that money unless I stay until then.

I'm so ******* pissed. Poor Sr. level managment and a president with no *****. The truth is, he re-negotiated with our MI facility (they're union and we're not) and garaunteed them another 6yrs worth of work. He should've pulled out there and come down here where there's a cheaper labor rate. He even told us last year he refuses to negotiate with unions. Whatever?
I just have to get this off my chest.

That sucks, i had a job close down on me after 3.5 years there. Just feels like you are worth nothing and getting kicked to the curb.
Closing the MI plant is probably not an option because of the union. I'm in a union but not exactly a 100% union supporter. The negatives is they keep lazy and stupid people in a job while their peers do 200% more work than them for the same pay to pick up their slack. Just my .02 Just one of the reasons i've chosen to advance where i'm at to get away from some of the sorry asses.
Good luck.

Umm...okay, I don't want to get in the middle of your Broke Back loving thing you guys have going.
I feel like I've applied everywhere, already. I've interviewed twice and I'm still waiting to hear back from one place. They said it would be like 2.5-3weeks. That was last Friday, so who knows at this point. The other interviewed I had went well, but the job listing is stale and word on the street is the company doesn't know what they're looking for. This must be true, because I meet all the requirments and passed the Solid Works test with flying colors.

I'd like to keep it close by, like in AZ or CA, but I'm between a rock and a hard place. I bought my house about a year ago and I've remodeled it. So basically I'll be hit with huge capital gains if I sell it for what it's worth. The market sucks now too.

Im in the construction field, I know exactly what your talking about.
We're gona start are own biz, thinking something along the lines of vaginal contractors (pimps),
Not a bad investment.
