Ok, no problem, i'll ask her next time i get a chance to speak to her. Yes, they have replaced many after market parts so far. Off the top of my head, they have paid for a new Airaid intake, radix intake tube, 100mm MAF, radix heat exchanger, fan shroud, ....

Cool man.

I got to thinking that maybe my agent just wanted off the phone... He knows I'm up in NY now and will have to switch agents because he isn't licensed here...

Holty....

We have an import and Allstate is our insurance company. They sent an appraiser within a week or so. When the Texsin was first insured by Allstate, all they required were copies of some receipts. After the next round of mods, they sent the appraiser.

I'd persue getting the coverage that you're looking for.

I've had good luck with Allstate as well. Nothing near as major as you guys are talking about, but when I had a piece of metal debris go through my grille they paid to replace my aftermarket tranny cooler along with everything else. I didn't even have a reciept handy, the adjuster just took my word for the value.

Ok, so I just got off the phone with one of the policy adjusters for USAA.
So apparently all insurance agencies are different and USAA doesn't have a policy such as allstate that enables you to insure added or extra modifications to a vehicle. There is a provision in all USAA policies that take into account any modifications but nothing concrete and in stone like HOLTY's policy with allstate. They do have insurance for high end cars such as exotics and such but nothing that can raise my vehicle's value and allow me to insure it as a high end vehicle.
I asked her what would happen should I get into an accident and she said that they would require receipts of any additional modifications and pictures to help ensure that they were in fact used on the vehicle. After that it's very similar to what Erik was saying where they will take into account the price of the modification and from there the assesed value is sensitive to depreciation.
I didn't ask what or how much certain modification's depreciate though.
From previous experience USAA has been awesome to me although I don't have a personal agent per say but the few times I've used them they have covered me up to and beyond my requests in one particular case which has gained my loyalty. I'm gonna call again later and speak with another agent to ensure that they concure with each other. I know sometimes some of them don't know all the different policies. She did make an extra/additional notation in my policy saying that I had informed them of modifications in excess of 20K.
We'll see what happens!

Is USAA similar to CSAA (AAA)
I talked to my insurance person a couple of months ago and she told me the same thing. I have reciepts and tons of pics (duh?) to back up every thing. She did mention depreciation but really, how much do the parts depreciate?

I got hit by a car a few years ago on my Harley and I got the ins co. to pay for my custom ($5K+) paint, leather jacket, helmet, custom controlls etc with only a little fight.

I can be a real pain in the *** when it comes to getting what I want. Just make sure to document everything!
