If you were to build a "bug out" truck...

What would YOU do? This is the idea I have right now... if I end up selling my truck I plan on picking up a Z71 and having at it. What's a bug out truck you ask? If there's a natural disaster or shtf scenario... or even zombies attack, its the vehicle you'd have that you'd bet your life on to not let you down.
So right now I'm kinda leaning towards building a rcsb Z71, maybe with one of those nice fiberglass bed caps that kinda make the trucks look almost Tahoe-like. I don't think i'd want to do anything over the top extreme with the drivetrain to maintain reliability, but it'd definately get a small lift for more ground clearance. I was also thinking about some of those nice boxed steel bumpers with a winch mounted inside and room for additional off road lights, plus maybe some lights on top of the bed cap on all 4 corners for side and rear lighting if needed. Obviously the electrical system would need a good once over to make sure everything gets enough power. Inside the bed i'd have some extra fuel cans and a box full of tools that i'd need, along with other gear that would make survival easier.
I'm still in thinking mode on this one, but I'd like to hear if any of you have some good ideas too. I'm not looking to build a rock crawler or anything, just something that I could convince the g/f I'm building for... "camping" lol.
Anyway, fire away...

You should build something like those Tornado chasers build!!
anyways, Bull bars are a good start, winch on the front AND back bumpers, light bars on top, search light with handle on the inside, PA system, some emergency lights behind the grill, etc...

Z71 Tahoe. Small lift to clear 33's. stock looking steel bumper up front and out back. winches front and rear. high power lights all around.
inside probably gut the rear from the second seats back (got to have the second row just in case you find someone else on the run..) gun rack on one side. plenty of non perishables and water on the other.
sounds about right...
oh.... and a 370 with a TVS on top.

That is one thing I had thought about. A diesel would be easier to procure fuel for if everything goes to ****. I've also always kept the CCSB setup in the back of my mind... I don't want an actual tahoe for some reason, even though that's pretty much what the rig would end up functioning like, but I need a truck base to start with. If I went with a CCSB I'd have the two extra doors and more room for the puppy in back too. I am definately tossed up between the RCSB and CCSB, but I still lean towards the RCSB for the overall size advantage (not exactly a land yacht with only two doors lol). I just need to offload my truck before I can start anything, but when my truck does sell, this is going to be the project I'm starting on.
