I just shipped an 80e and 60e on a single pallet from AL to TX and it was about 160. I use freightquote.com to find me a shipper, its worth their $15 charge imo.

Damn, it only costs my company about $440 to have a van show up for an immediate delivery, drive 5 hours away, deliver the pallet, drive 5 hours back.

Has anyone ever shipped anything on greyhound? A guy I work with has shipped mustang parts by greyhound several times and said its the cheapest freight he's ever found. He shipped a whole mustang interior and a hood for $60 from houston to kentucky

Ups quoted me $540... this seems astronomically high ... just curious what you guys are paying
Use UPS Freight rather than plain old UPS, ship from a commercial address and have it shipped to another commercial address. Strap it to a pallet or build a crate to ship it in. I just went on the UPS freight site and using google'd zip codes for glendale and houston, figured class 85 (might be a lower class than that too, 85 is what is normally used for sheet metal body parts. The lower the class, the cheaper the shipping will be) and 200 lbs shipping from/to a business and it came up with $204.96.

Use a business to ship them. Company rates are always better. Find a friend who works somewhere, anywhere that makes freight truck shipments and offer to pay an extra $20 to use their shipping account.

The rates you are being quoted are list rates...and yes they are marked up something terrible!!

We ship engines across the country for less than $300, and can send stuff overseas for less than the $800 you were quoted.
