Default How long will a set of stock tires last?

I'm wanting to get some 275's or 285's to go on my sock rims, but cant justify throwing out the perfectly good set that came with the truck. They are the stock 245 General whatevers that GM puts on all of the 2wd's these days. With the damned TM in the tranny, I can't even manage a good smoky burnout to hasten the process

I'll give u $100 shipped for the tires ur taking off if they have about 60-70% tread left. That's the same tire i've had on my truck, i bought it in may, all 4 have been bald since september. That's mostly to do with my spinning the **** out of em, and since i had a peg leg, i had to rotate them all to the back right

I think most people get about 30-35k miles out of the factory tires. Never really heard of more than that.

I just put some new Toyo's on my truck and swapped out the stock general's. They had right at 40k on them. They weren't completely bald, but almost to the ware bars. I've had the truck since 21,500 miles and didn't do to many burnout with them... ok,... so maybe a couple

My stock POS firestones have about 50-60% left on them and I'm at 32K.

Thanks for the offer, but shipping would probably be prohibitively expensive.

Maybe I'll try autocross!

I don't think shipping would be $100, so u'd come out on top if u were getting new ones you'd probably just let the ppl changing the tires have your old ones and they charge a $2 a tire disposal fee around here so u'd still come out on top, but anyhow i heard them Toyo's were badass tires

Go to a couple tire stores and see if they will let you trade in the stock tires to save a few bucks towards the new set. I know around here the Discount Tire store will give $50 per tire for new stock tires.

Thanks for the tips, but I'm not really in a huge hurry to get the new tires, just curious as to how long I'll have the stockers.
