Default Home renovation in progress.....pics

So over the holidays I purchased a home built in 1955

lol, long story short mold + unsafe wiring + old water pipes + asbestos + absolutely disgusting blown attic insulation = other projects/hobbies all stop, need to get this home in shape.

So far I have filled three 10yrd bins with lath/plaster/original wood floors/old wiring/etc.

Scope of work:
I'm going to renovate the kitchen/dining room/living room/hallway/front and back entry areas (sounds bigger than it is)

Where I'm at now:
Almost done with the deconstruction process (a few notes; I hate 1" thick plaster and pocket doors with a passion) All thats left is a section of the kitchen we are currently using and part of the hallway.

Plan of Attack:
Finish the rest of the demolition this week
Finish the framing
Install new windows and doors
Rewire kitchen/dining room/living room/hallway/front and back entry areas with romex/plastic boxes
Install ceiling lights where desired
Install new water feed lines
Install new gas feed lines
Seal and Insulate all open walls with foam board (house came with no insulation except attic)
Install new sub-floor
Install drywall
Texture/paint
Install tile floor
Install base board/crown molding
Insulate attic with cellulose
Install plywood floor in attic

standby for pics of progress

I will trade your HD2500 "project vehicle" for 30 bundles of shingles, 30 bundles of insulation, and 30 gallons of paint. Lemme know....

I've been curious as to what's been going on with your house. Looks like you had some fire damage too from some off your pics. Looks like you found yourself a fun project!

lol, yeah some fire damage too She's a good old girl, no termites, no pests (anymore) and the original builder (as the original owners tell me) was a quality builder and somewhat locally famous in the mid fifties but the main thing wrong with her is the unsafe work performed over time since then and/or so called fixes done to the house.

Fun project

I feel your pain, Grippy! My house was built in 1940 with whatever was laying around, and whatever the former owner could steal from the mill. Everytime I start something, the next thought is "what were they trying to do!!!" But.....it's still cheaper than renting!!!

I just finished remodeling our house which was built in late 70s. We had to jack up the ceiling cause it was literally hanging 3" down in the center of the dining room and living room. Also had to scrape off all the "popcorn" texture from the ceilings biggest mess ever! And I tore out all the stupid pocket doors and replaced with new hinge swing doors. I hate remodeling with a passion! Best of luck to ya on the project though.
