Default "High Performance" Insurance

Alright I went into my insurance agents office the other day and asked to upgrade my insurance with some added coverage. We talked about what I wanted and he looked up the price and it was absolutely outragous, he himself could not believe the price. He looked through the policy carefully and found that there was a "High Performance Surcharge", which doesn't seem to make sense seeming how my Camaro doesn't have one, and as far as the insurance company knows the truck is completely stock. So then he looked at other customers that had regular cab short boxes of the post 2000 generation with the 5.3 and none of the other trucks he looked at had this surcharge. Now granted I am only 19 years old so my insurance is quite high as is, but this seems to be rediculous, does anyone else have a charge similar to this. I was just wondering if all insurance companies have this type of charge or just mine.

That is a bunch of bullshit. My buddy had a Lightning and it was insured as a f 150 on the policy.. I would look into it further or look into a new insurance company... There is no reason that should be labeled as HP truck..

Yes I know it is dumb it was way cheaper to insure my Camaro than my truck which is completely bass ackwards. My brother just had over $6,000.00 dollars damage to his '03 rcsb from hitting a deer (hense why i want more coverage), but it worked out good for him because he has full coverage. For some reason his truck is cheaper to insure than mine which also doesn't make any sense because it is newer, I mean we are talking over a hundred dollars a month cheaper than mine. I just don't get it, I really need to find a different insurance company, but I don't have many options where I live. Has anyone had any luck with an online company.

I'm going to be the one to ask.
What "UPGRADE" are you referring to? Standard "full coverage" will cover you hitting a deer so specifically what are you asking the insurance company for?

I called AAA and asked them what it'd cost to cover some of the bolt-on parts I've added to my truck, told them it was around $25,000 in parts and they researched and called me back telling me as long as it wasn't "stereo" equipment, was bolted to the engine, frame or body and I had receipts that I was fully covered for "fair market" value.

So far AAA has always given me the best of service, I have receipts and pictures of everything....

Isnt that the key tho, you need to prove its costs and that you purchased it correct? Everything I've bought is either from these classifieds or from craigslist. No receipts here

All you need to do is take clear pics and document how much, when and where you bought it. It doesn't have to be a store bought item.
