Default has anyone traded their car in for a truck?

Well this past weekend I ended up driving a lifted '04 F250 and I loved it. I almost loved it so much that I am considering selling my 2005 GTO for one. I wouldn't get a F250 since there is basically no room to work on the engine, but maybe a duramax of some sort?

I'm just wondering if anyone here has made the switch from car to truck or am I just crazy

Traded my 2004 Chevy Impala SS (Indy Edition) for a 2013 Chevy Silverado ECSB Texas Edition.

Happy, but the mileage sucks.

I haven't, always have had a truck with a cavalier and a Camaro tossed in the middle, however I have seen many people ditch a truck for a car, and it seems they eventually come back.

Traded my 67 Acadian (canadian Nova) totally restored for my 81 1 ton GMC 4x4 with a 480hp 454/manual trans and 9" lift which was previously restored.

Nothing but happy now.

No, I have both thankfully. If your into diesels as you said dont get the powerstroke due to egr and head gasket failures. I had 2 diff duramax trucks and were very happy with both. If thats what your looking for then dont get the lb7 from 2001-2004 go for the lly from 2004.5 and up. Preferably 2006 and up due to the 6 speed allison that comes with it, although the 5speed isnt bad as long as you can control yourself with tuners and keep it at or below 100hp tune. The cummins will match the dmaxes power but give better economy so I hear. Id opt for the 2007 and newer with the 6.7 due to being able to handle a bit more power without smoking the trans. Diesels are addictive, you have been warned!!! G.L.

I didn't ditch a car, but ditched my 09' silverado for a 13' duramax. Was hooked on a diesel after driving a buddies 12' duramax for a day. Love the truck so far.

Man, dont say that kinda ****, I already miss my d-max and I just bought this 09 gasser!!! I was actually looking for another d-max I just hated the ride of my 05 when not loaded it rode like crap. I wonder if GM ever did away with the torsion bars on the newer body 2500HD's? If they ride like the 1500's Id trade for another D-max in a min!

The LLY's still have head gasket problems. LBZ is the best bet as far as Duramax reliability goes. The LMM's have had issues with the DPF, and the LML's have had issues with the DEF. 5 vs 6 speed doesn't matter a lot, the 6th gear might drop cruising RPM by 100-200 but mileage increase is negligible. There are 6 speed conversion packages out there for the 5 speed but they are expensive and you don't gain much, if anything. Both trannies are limited in how much power they can hold. The only real advantage I can see of a 6 speed over a 5 speed is that you can put a Transgo Jr kit into the 6 speed without having to tear the whole trans apart, but that's just a bandaid anyway.

The current 2500HDs are still torsion bar. The 07-10 trucks were still on the same chassis as the earlier body style. In 11 they changed it...my 11 rides better than my 06 did though.

To the OP....it really depends on your preferences, but I've had an 01 Silverado, 06 GTO, 06 D-max, 09 G8, and 11 D-max, and the trucks have always been my preference. The GTO was fun at times, but nothing beats a truck IMO, especially a diesel. I don't really ever drive the G8, wife wanted an auto and that takes all the fun out of it.

Bought my 99 Silverado 4.8 Ext cab for $1,500 with a blown trans and put one in with 38k miles and replaced some other misc stuff.

Then sold my 01 BMW 330ci and put rims/tires/leveling kit/helper shocks on the truck and it's my daily. I only work 3.5 miles from home now so I got rid of the car once I decided the truck was reliable because in spring next year I plan on buying some land so I got rid of the payment on the car for extra to put away.
