As many of you know, I work on computer's for a living. I usually keep some pieced together pile of a laptop to work with while I am onsite at a customer's location. About a year and a half ago, a new sony laptop came in with a virus. While searching for the source of the virus and why it was so slow, I found a large portion of the harddrive was taken by a hidden **** directory. Anytime there is ****, I obligated by federal law to check it for child ****. I found some. I contacted the police. They left the laptop with me, but took the owners information. Within a week, the owner came in and I handed him the officer's business card. The owner was an illegal, so he hit the ground running. After a year, the police finally picked up the laptop to put it in evidence. I asked if I could have it if they couldn't find the guy. 6 month pass, they bring me the laptop back and tell me it is mine. They never found the guy or any of his family.

So, now I have a laptop that is under 2 years old, and all it cost me is the time reloading it. No big deal, but it is nice to finally have a laptop that everything works, and I have nothing invested in it so I don't feel guilty about not selling it.

 

Vista huh... as far as I'm concerned, that counts as something being broken.

 

Vista Service Pack 2 is fairly stable and is also what 7 was built off. It will do what I want it to do, so I will leave it. My last one had windows 7 on it, but it wasn't nearly as nice.

 

My wife just turned the lights off on me. The white keyboard is really easy to read in the dark. I guess I have never used a laptop with a white keyboard in the dark before. HA

 

The white on the keyboard was from the last guy looking at that damn child ****!

JK, nice catch, and congrats on turning someone like that in to the police. Those people just need a bullet in their head.

 

I think this thread was just an excuse to post a couple of crotch shots.

Anyway, that's a good deal all around. A pedophile was turned in, then left the country, and you got a free computer.

 

And everyone lived happily ever after.

I cleaned the laptop well, no worries. It wasn't but a month old when I got it. How he downloaded 230 gigs of **** in a month, I will never know.
