Default Gas/Fuel Energy

I was arguing with a uhm...a colleage, and I was making the case that your vehicle doesn't really need lots of gas to actually drive you down the road...the energy of that shouldn't be too much. He ofcourse disagreed...I have a knack for getting myself in situations were people usually disagreed with me....anyway...here is what I thought was an interesting link for that topic...and there is also other pretty cool government stat stuff on there. Enjoy for the inquiring minds want to know of you out there.

I heard somewhere that to keep your car in cruise control at around 65mph you only really need 20hp. Keep in mind this was a long time ago.

I log my mileage and gas at every fill...I actually can get a 2-3 mpg gain from a heavy cruise control ride...meaning that particular tank gas I used cruise alot more than normal.

Cruise Control at 65 on the beltway pisses alot of people off. It definately helps though as long as there aren't alot of hills.

65?!?!? Who said anything about 65? LOL

Actually, I am very impressed with cruise since my motor mods and such. With the stock setup it defintely had it's issues. But if I set cruise now, any speed...75 to 79...it will stay that speed the whole time.

I was trying to chill out a little on my driving a while back so I set my cruise control on 65 going around the beltway for about a week. I did get better gas mileage but, not good enough to go that slow......plus I couldn't bare to see all those people blowing past me.

I've never tried it any faster than that, didn't realize it would have trouble holding steady at higher speeds, will have to try that out.
