I'd be confident to line this stock piece of crap up with that long bed HD

For others that were curious, i know these Fox's are a dime a dozen.. but it made 332 rwhp on the dyno through a 670 Avenger carb with vacuum secondaries and it weighs under 3k lbs. I haven't got to get it to the track yet, but i am pretty confident she'll go low 12's - high 11's.. and the best part, I am still at ~$3200 on the tally for the entire build, including the purchase of the car. I have bought almost everything used except for the cam.
Well at least you didn't get a skittle cam. I am quite anxious to see the track numbers. I will be surprised to see mid 12s. You may prove me wrong but I have watched lot's of mustangs at the track and online.

I can definitely see a low 12 second pass with that power at that weight, but i highly doubt it will go 11 anything. As far as custm2500, you always like to talk **** on everyone elses setups but where is yours at? Been a member for a while now and i dont think ive seen anything you own run anywhere decently quick? Not really to sure why you think gt40s suck so bad, for what they are they run decently well. I havent even seen you make power with an ls so i cant see you being able to make a pair of "shitty" gt40 heads go fast either.

As far as the ops car, its looking very good man. Anything done to the trans yet? What are you near future plans for the car?

I have ran out of money on my truck. I ran a best of 13.4 and 2 years ago that was respectable especially on nearly stock and a 100 shot. At the time there weren't 10 and 11 sec trucks everywhere. I bought a 408 short block and haven't had the money to finish it. Doesn't mean squat til I have a slip but it should run 11s easy and solid 10s on Kill. As it is built for 350 of juice.

Every one has gt-40 heads and most run 13 and 14s with them. I will be amazed if this one does any better. I am not talking ****, just a fact that gt-40 heads and explorer intake doesn't make much improvement. I don't know of the ones I have seen how many were worked on but it is typically hard to make chicken soup out of chicken ****

It is well proven that for a very similar investment (well with in his budget) a stock 5.3 or 6.0 swapped will run will run right with his gt40 heads and that is stock. Every mod past that opens the performance per dollar gap. The op asked whaf to do with $5000 and this Mustang. If he wants fast, easy and bad ***. The best way is ls swap.

As much as I like a LS swap fox, I've had a few foxbodys and like said many great cheap combos to be had for the SBF still... I used to love the NMRA factory stock guys, dudes made them move out on all factory parts, like you said weight is your advantage, I used to turn my factory bottom end 302 out on 7k all day, then again I didnt care if it tore itself apart haha.. sticky tires, less weight, stupid low gears :p, better heads, intake and more rpm.. too easy

sorry i just now saw this. Let me just say, LMAO! agreed. Mr long bed truck guy talks on expert level and aint got **** but a green boat anchor with a shitty photo-shop job of some flaming tires.

anyway, Thank you for the kind words. The trans in now is an AOD. this was in the car when i got it. I am torn on the trans issue. I am looking at this car as a toy, so i dont care how it drives on the street.. as far as 'street car' manners. HOWEVER, i do drive it to the track also, and would like to not have to cruise at 4k RPM. My brain tells me to just procure a built Glide/converter and let it eat.. as that would be bullet-proof and cheap.. but part of me wants to build the AOD myself as a new learning project and slide a 4k stall in there.. Trans is the only weak point in the car as of now. Its shifting fine, but stock stall is creeping at 1300 rpm.

My friend at the trans shop says it would take me around 18-20 hours to build it myself, being a first timer and meticulous.. and cleaning parts just right. I have built the engine and rear though, so why not learn to do the trans and take pride by saying i did that?? Fuggit.

The 5.0 has such a short stroke, i do the same. They are like little sewing machines!! Parts are cheap, engines are cheap. I had prolly 10k in my trucks LS drivetrain just to run 11's. I just dont want to bite that off again and be stuck with something i cant sell for 1/2 the investment.
