EDC Flashlights

I know what you mean about that, but that is a problem with the LED conversion. The newer versions of the full on LED Maglite flashlights are much better. They're also a lot brighter than the conversion because of nicer LEDs being used and they dissipate heat much better.
Sorry if I sound like a flashlight geek all the sudden, been reading all morning about flashlights before I spent $80 on one.

I have quite a few flashlights, most of them are cheap ones that I've been given on holidays and stuff. I have two Maglites (first one was given to me by my Uncle a longgggggg time ago) that I've always liked, and I use a flashlight at work all the time so I figured it'd be a good time to get something nice. It'll have more output than my LED Maglite, but a fraction of the size and weight, and I can use a rechargeable battery in it. Ya it's $70-80 but who cares, at least it's something I'll use. I've spent way more money on things I rarely use (AR15, AK74, etc) but it's nice having things you want, and I won't have to worry about buying them in the future when I may not have as much extra cash.

What's your budget? FYI the light I bought puts out 304 lumens vs your converted maglites 80-110 lumens. It probably won't have the throw (distance capabilities) of the maglite due the smaller reflector and total size, but it has very good flooding will be PLENTY bright. It uses an 18650 rechargable battery which is also Lithium Ion, so that means you can top it off whenever you want without messing with it's charging capabilities like the old NiCad batteries. I should have it Monday, but may not be able to use it until Tuesday after I give it a good charge. If you're interested I'll let you know how it works out.

Check this out. This is a video showing the one I bought vs one of the actual 3D LED Maglites (~140 lumens, brighter than your converted one). It's hard to tell the difference between modes as the camera adjusts, but when he brings the maglite back out at around a minute in, the difference is crazy.
EDIT: Actually that's a PD30 which is an older model. The PD31 would be even brighter.
