Ear cropping in central Texas?? Or close??

I'm looking for a reputable vet to crop my blues ears. Would like some pics or references. Don't want to take him in and get a bang up job done!

I've never known why pits have their ears cropped. Why is it done?

If I ever get another Pit I'm getting the sport cut done. My Aussie cattle dog needs his big ears though. lol
